Botswana, Namibia and Victoria Falls. 2008 - Chobe National Park, Botswana

This is one of the most famous of the National Parks in Botswana. At this time of the year, the end of the dry season, thousands of animals move to the area beside the river where's there's grass and water. We saw huge herds of zebra and wildebeast.

We stopped at Chobe Safari Lodge (S17 48.524 E25 08.727) in Kasane which is 5km outside the Park.

This buffalo didn't make it, but made a good meal for the vultures.

We saw lots of elephants, mostly family groups making the most of the available water. Behind the elephants is part of a long line of buffalo.

The only predator that we saw, apart from the vultures, was this lion.

This is the first time that we've seen a Sable Antelope, it has a beautiful dark coat and curved horns.

We saw banded mongooses on the campsite as well as in the Park. They look, and behave, a bit like meerkats.

This egret took quite a while before it managed to swallow the fish.

Yet another boat trip at sunset.
