UK. 2019

Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland and Woodend, Cumbria.

We had arranged to stay with Paul and Jella at Woodend at the end of October as we wanted to go to the 'Jerry Hell' concert that Paul had arranged. We also spent at couple of days with them at a site in Garlieston and a few more exploring a bit of Dumfries and Galloway.

Garlieston

We joined Paul and Jella for a couple of days at a lovely site within easy walking distance of the harbour and an excellent pub. The weather was lovely.

Garlieston harbour.

The small lake at the campsite.

After Garlieston Paul and Jella had to return home but we decided to head to the Mull of Galloway, which is the most south-westerly point in Scotland. These 2 photos are ones that I took along the way.

Mull of Galloway

We could see the Mull of Galloway lighthouse as we drove along the coast road.

From the car park we walked around the lighthouse with great views in all directions.

From the lighthouse looking back with the sea on either side of the peninsula.

New England Bay

We spent a night at a campsite at New England Bay and had a walk along the beach.

New Abbey

On our way back to Woodend we stopped for a night at New Abbey, a small farm site. We enjoyed the goats gambolling around.

Woodend

We always enjoy our time at Woodend. Paul fired up his wood-fired pizza oven - best pizzas ever!

Paul is the organiser of Music in Ulpha and has organised many musical evenings over the years. Some time ago he suggested that a couple of acts, The Jerry Colvin Band and Merry Hell, got together for an evening of music called 'Jerry Hell'. He spoke to them and they agreed but the Music in Ulpha venue was too small so he got together with another organisatio, Ulverston Music, and together they organised the event at the Coronatin Hall in Ulverston at the end of October.

It was a great evening.

First up was The Jerry Colvin Band.

Followed by Merry Hell.

1. Burston hill, Grafham Water, Ringstead and The Chiltern Hills.

2. Yorkshire Dales.

3. Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland and Woodend, Cumbria.

Then they all got together for a couple of songs.
