1. Spioenkop Dam, Nature Reserve and battlefield.
After recent heavy rains the dam was full and the ground very watelogged but we managed to find a fairly dry site with a great view over the dam. We did drive out around the reserve and managed to see a few animals. Another day we drove up to the battlefield.

Our site overlooking the dam.

From our site we could see the top of Spioenkop - which is where theAnglo/Boer battle took place.

Red hartebeest.

Giraffe and zebra.

A rainbow after a big storm soon aftern we arrived.

Plenty of water throughout the Reserve.

On our drive to the top of Spioenkop Hill we stopped to see the water flowing over the dam wall.

Roadside flowers (cosmos) - as usual I picked a few seeds to chuck into the garden.

From the top of the hill we had a great view over the dam and could see the dam wall.

The walking trail around the hill was rather overgrown but we were able to follow it.

One of the grave sites.
