Zimbabwe, April & May 2012 - Kuimba Shiri Bird ParkWe stayed here on 4 occasions during our stay in Zimbabwe. Gary and Elcine, the owners, are always very welcoming and we now consider Kuimba Shiri our 'home' in Zimbabwe! The view from the bar / restaurant area of the gardens. The campsite has recently been added to the accommodation at Kuimba Shiri and is in a lovely location overlooking the lake. Horses and a couple of zebra are often around the site. |
|
There's a covered boma and large braai at the campsite. |
This sheep is always with the group of geese! |
There are owl, eagle and falcon flying displays at weekends and, often, during the week. |

... catching food thrown for it in the lake. |
The audience at the flying demonstration are encouraged to participate with flying the owls. I flew the spotted eagle owl and then Kevin flew the barn owl.
|
There are also plenty of wild birds around the gardens. We saw a family of fish eagles at the campsite most days and there were always egrets, herons, jacana and moorhens on the lake. |
Early morning mist over the lake. |
